IIE DIGITAL DESK : Kolkata Police has launched a special welfare initiative aimed at protecting the health and well-being of its personnel working on the ground.
The initiative, named the Summer Kit Distribution Programme, was formally inaugurated on Wednesday at Park Circus Seven-Point Crossing in Kolkata. The programme was launched in the presence of senior police officials, including Police Commissioner Ajay Nand and Additional Commissioner D. P. Singh.
The initiative has been introduced keeping in mind the harsh working conditions faced by police personnel, home guards, and civic volunteers who remain on duty for long hours under extreme sun exposure. The summer kits provided under this programme include essential items designed to help personnel cope with high temperatures during their daily field duties.
Commissioner Ajay Nand addressed the personnel and stressed the importance of maintaining personal health alongside public service responsibilities. He advised them to stay well-hydrated, take necessary precautions, and remain alert while working in challenging weather conditions.
Officials from Kolkata Police stated that this initiative is part of a broader effort to ensure workforce welfare and operational efficiency during peak summer months. The distribution of summer kits has been widely welcomed by on-duty personnel, who expressed that such support measures provide significant relief and help them perform their duties more comfortably despite the extreme heat.
The programme reflects a growing focus on occupational safety and welfare within frontline law enforcement services, especially during increasingly severe summer conditions.
