IIE DIGITAL: Ranveer Singh is gearing up for a busy second half of the year, balancing an ambitious new film with a significant milestone in his personal life. According to a report by Variety India, the actor is set to begin filming director Jai Mehta's zombie thriller Pralay in August before taking a paternity break after Diwali as he and wife Deepika Padukone prepare to welcome their second child.
The report states that Ranveer will shoot for Pralay until around Diwali, following which he is expected to step away from work in November to spend time with his family. Production on the film is reportedly scheduled to resume with its second phase in 2027.
Pralay marks Ranveer's first venture into the zombie thriller genre, making it one of his most intriguing projects to date. Although the filmmakers have not revealed details about the storyline or the supporting cast, the film has already sparked considerable curiosity among fans.
Earlier, Pinkvilla reported that a significant portion of Pralay would be filmed in Australia. The report also claimed that Ranveer has already begun preparing for the project ahead of the extensive international schedule.
Away from the cameras, Ranveer and Deepika are preparing to expand their family. The couple, who married in 2018, welcomed their daughter Dua in September 2024 and have largely kept her life away from the public spotlight.
In April this year, the couple announced that they were expecting their second child through a joint social media post. Deepika is currently in the third trimester of her pregnancy, and Ranveer's reported decision to take time off later this year is said to reflect his commitment to being with his family during the arrival of their newest member.
While neither Ranveer nor the makers of Pralay have officially commented on the reported filming schedule or his planned paternity leave, the project remains one of the actor's most anticipated upcoming releases.
