IIE DIGITAL: After earning acclaim at several international film festivals, Huma Qureshi's police procedural drama Bayaan is now heading to Australia for its premiere at the 2026 Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM).

Expressing her excitement, Huma described Bayaan as one of the most demanding and fulfilling projects of her career. She said portraying Roohi, a fearless police officer investigating her first high-profile case involving a powerful cult leader accused of sexual abuse, challenged her emotionally and professionally. According to the actor, the film goes beyond a crime investigation by exploring themes of power, truth and justice.

Huma also shared that she is proud to present the film at IFFM and hopes audiences will engage with its powerful narrative and continue reflecting on its message long after watching it.

Written and directed by Bikas Ranjan Mishra, Bayaan also stars Sachin Khedekar and Chandrachur Singh in key supporting roles.

The film had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in 2025 before being screened in the 'A Window on Asian Cinema' section at the 30th Busan International Film Festival. It was also showcased earlier this year at the Red Lorry Film Festival.

On the work front, Huma was recently seen in the noir thriller Baby Do Die Do and has begun shooting for the fifth season of the acclaimed political drama series Maharani.
