As it enters its fifth day in theatres, the multi-starrer film has officially become the second highest-grossing entry in the Housefull series, surpassing expectations with its robust performance across domestic and overseas markets.

Directed by Tarun Mansukhani and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, Housefull 5 stars Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Pooja Hegde, Kriti Sanon, and Abhimanyu Dassani in leading roles. The film opened with a strong weekend and has continued its momentum into the weekdays, drawing in audiences thanks to its brand value, ensemble cast, slapstick humor, and grand visual scale.

Housefull 5 collected an estimated ₹19.5 crore at the domestic box office, bringing its total five-day collection to an impressive ₹117 crore. This puts it just behind Housefull 4, which remains the franchise’s top grosser with a lifetime total of over ₹200 crore. However, trade analysts suggest that if the current pace holds, Housefull 5 could surpass that record in the coming week.

The film saw strong footfall in metro cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru, as well as mass circuits like Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and Rajasthan. Its appeal across both multiplex and single-screen audiences has contributed to its wide-reaching success. According to box office experts, family audiences and younger viewers have driven much of the weekday collection, despite competition from other new releases and ongoing IPL buzz.

The festive timing of the release, coinciding with the summer vacation season and a partial public holiday in some regions, has also worked in the film’s favor. Additionally, the film’s humor-heavy trailer and catchy songs helped build buzz ahead of the release, resulting in high advance bookings.

Housefull 5 has received mixed reviews, with many reviewers pointing out its formulaic plot and over-the-top comedy. However, the film stays true to the franchise’s DNA—larger-than-life sets, mistaken identities, outrageous situations, and high-energy performances. This consistency has clearly resonated with the franchise’s loyal fanbase.

Akshay Kumar’s performance has been especially praised for his effortless comedic timing and his ability to carry multi-ensemble films with charm and authority. Riteish Deshmukh, a mainstay of the series, also continues to impress with his comic flair. The new additions, including Abhimanyu Dassani and the leading ladies, have been welcomed by audiences, adding freshness to the established format.

With a production budget of around ₹250 crore, including promotional and distribution costs, the film has already recovered nearly half of its investment through domestic box office earnings alone. Overseas collections, satellite rights, and streaming deals are expected to push it into profitability within the next week.

As Housefull 5 marches on in theatres, trade insiders are optimistic about its long-term potential. If its current trajectory continues, it could well become one of the highest-grossing Bollywood films of 2025. For now, it stands as yet another example of Akshay Kumar’s continued dominance in commercial cinema, and a testament to the enduring appeal of well-packaged, star-studded comedy.
