IIE Digital Desk : Tata Motors, India's largest automaker, has set a target of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2045, its executive director said on Tuesday. Girish Wagh, the executive director of Tata Motors, said that the company would achieve this target by a combination of measures, including electrifying its vehicles, using renewable energy, and reducing its reliance on fossil fuels.

"We are committed to being a responsible corporate citizen and to doing our part to address climate change," Wagh said. "This target is a significant milestone in our journey to a sustainable future." Tata Motors is not the only automaker that has set a net-zero emissions target. Other major automakers, including General Motors, Ford, and Volkswagen, have also made similar commitments. The automotive industry is a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions. In India, the transportation sector accounts for about 15% of the country's total emissions.

Tata Motors' target is a significant step towards reducing the environmental impact of the automotive industry. The company's commitment to electrifying its vehicles is particularly important, as electric vehicles produce zero emissions. Tata Motors is also investing in renewable energy and other measures to reduce its reliance on fossil fuels. These efforts will help the company to achieve its net-zero emissions target and to contribute to a sustainable future.
